How to Play LexiLayers

LexiLayers is a word puzzle game where you select tiles from a board to build words. All letters are visible — simply click the tiles you want to add them to your Working Row at the top of the screen.

When LexiLayers starts, you'll see a board full of letter tiles, plus a row of controls:

  • OK — submits the word in your Working Row
  • Clear — removes everything from your Working Row
  • Pass — removes the top row of the board, and feeds in a fresh row from the bottom, shifting everything up. You can only Pass once per round.
  • Flip — flips the entire board: the bottom row becomes the top, and the top becomes the bottom. The flip counter shows how many flips you have left this game.

Basic Gameplay

  1. Select Tiles — Click or tap any tile on the board to add its letter to your Working Row. A tile can only be selected if it isn't covered by another tile on top of it.
  2. Build Words — Selected letters appear in your Working Row at the top. Arrange them to form valid English words.
  3. Submit Words — Click or tap OK to score your word. Longer words and special tiles earn more points!
  4. Clear & Continue — After submitting, your Working Row clears and you can start building a new word.

To form words, select letters that are on the top layer of the tile grid. Note that once you have selected a letter, you can then choose the letter beneath it if you need to.

Tip: Changed your mind? Click a letter in the Working Row to remove it (and everything after it) — the tiles fly back to the board exactly where they came from, re-covering whatever was beneath them.

The Working Row

The Working Row has 10 slots at the top of the screen. Letters fill from left to right as you select tiles. The slot your word ends in determines your word's row multiplier.

Tip: Longer words that reach slots 7-10 get higher multipliers (×3 to ×6)!

Special Tiles

Bonus tiles: Letter x2, Letter x3, Word x2, and Word x3

Special colored tiles will give you a bonus, such as multiplying the letter or word score. You will also get a multiplier bonus for words larger than 4 letters. The longer the word, the bigger the multiplier.

Combining special tiles into one long word can score big. Before you submit, the Word Score chip above the board always shows exactly what your current word is worth — so you can check it before you commit to a word.

Rounds & Time

Most game modes have multiple rounds. Your board carries over between rounds — you continue exactly where you left off. Watch the timer — when time runs out, the round ends and any unsubmitted word is lost.
